Jim Noir: Jimmy’s Show

While many of the songs on Jimmy’s Show have appeared in the past and are familiar to those of you who subscribed to the now defunct Noir Club, to the rest of the world, Jim Noir has only released three prior albums (not the 27 singles, demos, & EPs you may or may not have within your collection).

Its comforting to know that Mr. Noir is not giving up his day job (which is making music), because he is good at it.  And it turns out he is also good at making music videos. With the help of Lianne Pierce and Nye Best, Jim synthesized a marginally creepy puppet world in Tea:

My three favorite parts: The “would you eat the moon then, professor?” head bobble, the Magpie headed “kid” who confidently flips the coin without looking, and Jim Noir happily winking at the camera to end it.

Of course, the most enjoyable musical section is, as always, the way Noir handily channels The Beach Boys within his occasional vocal breaks. His harmonies craft a beautiful finale for My Patch and a wistfully innocent pause from the elderly terror experienced in Tea.

Hopefully ShuaiBa didn’t already have this album queued up for review. I win!

And now you know.

  1. It wasn’t qued up, per se. Though I’m still heavily considering the LP. Glad to see it made it up in a timely manner. As always, I’m glad to see Jim putting out more stuff, though I’m sad the Noir Club is non-more.

  2. I always thought of Noir as happier and more light-hearted than that video….I’m creeped out. I hope I won’t be picturing bird-headed people for the rest of Jim Noir enjoying days….
