The Beach Boys: Shut Down Volume 2

There has been a bit of grumbling lately, some opining that perhaps I have devoted too much space to The Beach Boys. To this I respond, impossible.

It may be true that the greatest surfers who didn’t really surf fell off their big-kahuna perch in the decade’s final twenty years, but that doesn’t matter to me.

Anyway. I am nearly done compiling the entire catalog and recently picked up a couple more albums including Shut Down Volume 2. If the album was only one song long it would still be ranked as one of the most important in rock history; Don’t Worry Baby is not only ridiculously great, it’s listed as one of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame‘s 500 most influential rock songs and Rolling Stone‘s top 200 songs of all time.

Go ahead and listen to it.. you’ll forget all about how much you hate The Beach Boys.

Enjoy.

  1. That is a famous song….vocals still drive me nuts. I am totally proud of their influence on music, and you should post the crap out of them. For me, the sunshine the Beach Boys cast on my ears is at a sharp, sharp irritatingly piercing angle. That is all I know.
