Couldn’t say I knew much about this Son House until I watched the outstanding documentary “It may get loud.” (post about that coming) The film asks three very different guitarists to talk about their journey through rock and roll. Throughout the film, Jack White continually points at Son House as his total inspiration for everything. Absolutely everything. So what happens while I’m perusing the Tucson library shelves the following day? BAM, Son House all by it’s self on the shelf. Magic.
Son House is simple. He’s raw. He’s blues in the flesh on a Dobro wearing a hat and just recording the sounds as they are. Have a listen and tell me which song you think is Jack’s inspiration.
